OCD and Related Disorders
Treatment in Helena, Montana

Being held captive by your thoughts and behaviors can be unbearable.

People with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and related issues often struggle for years before finding treatment that works. Traditional talk therapies are often not helpful or can even make symptoms worse.  Fortunately, OCD and related concerns are highly treatable with the right tools.
Kyrie uses the gold standard of treatment, CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to treat OCD.

To learn more about OCD and treatment, visit the International OCD Foundation, where Kyrie received her training.
Kyrie offers Telehealth Services for OCD
to Montana residents who live more than an hour from her office.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

People with OCD experience obsessions, compulsions, or both.

Obsessions are strong, unwanted, repeated thoughts or images, often of an upsetting nature. Some examples of common obsession themes are:
  • Contamination or germ related fears
  • Taboo sexual or religious-based thoughts
  • Thoughts of harming oneself or others that are counter to what a person actually wants
  • Needing things to be in perfect order or "just right"
  • These are just a few examples; there are many more.
People who have obsessions are often scared to discuss their thoughts, out of fear that people will be shocked or judgmental. A therapist skilled in treating OCD understands these thoughts DO NOT reflect the client's authentic beliefs or intentions.

Compulsions/Rituals are behavioral or mental efforts to reduce the anxiety caused by obsessions. Common compulsions are:
  • Excessive cleaning or washing
  • Checking / rearranging / fixing / re-doing or un-doing
  • Compulsive counting or repeating
  • Mentally reviewing or analyzing
The symptoms of OCD are very distressing and often quite disruptive to daily life.
